Sall – Justrite Italia

Hot-dip galvanized steel gas cylinder pallets and baskets

The gas cylinder baskets produced by Sall are specific pallets for the storage and transport of gas cylinders that can be handled safely both with a forklift and with a crane. Lifting and transporting with a crane is possible thanks to the two specially designed and tested anchoring eyes.

Made with a sturdy hot-dip galvanized steel structure, they are equipped with a fixing bracket and safety device to prevent accidental falls of the gas cylinders during transport in order to maximize the level of safety. The automatic closing device serves to prevent accidental opening of the bar (fixing bracket) and to prevent serious risks to the health of personnel in view of the high danger due to the explosive nature of the cylinders themselves.
The metal cylinder storage and transport pallets of this line are available in three standard versions, capable of storing and transporting 4, 8 or 12 cylinders with a diameter of 230 mm.

What Are the Benefits of Using Cylinder Pallets in Gas Cylinder Handling and Storage?

If your company is involved in the handling and storage of gas cylinders, cylinder baskets and pallets are essential tools to improve efficiency and ensure safety in the workplace. Sall cylinder baskets and pallets can be moved by forklift and crane and offer significant advantages in terms of safety, versatility and efficiency in handling.

  1. Safe handling of compressed gas cylinders Sall gas cylinder baskets and pallets are specifically designed and tested to allow safe handling of gas cylinders.
They are equipped with special fastening systems and automatic closing devices that prevent accidental opening of the basket door in order to guarantee maximum stability and safety during lifting and transport both with cranes and forklifts. This reduces the risk of accidents, protecting both personnel and the environment.
  2. Versatility: Cylinder baskets and pallets are extremely versatile. They can be used with forklifts and cranes, allowing easy handling in different industrial environments and even in tight spaces. Sall also designs and manufactures cylinder baskets that can adapt to different sizes and types of cylinders, offering a solution suitable for different needs.
  3. Storage efficiency: In addition to handling, cylinder baskets and pallets are also ideal for storage. They allow gas cylinders to be organised in an orderly and safe manner even inside cylinder depots in order to optimise the available space and offer additional protection. Using cylinder pallets inside cylinder depots not only optimises storage efficiency, but also simplifies the process of accessing and removing cylinders when necessary.
  4. Safety in sensitive environments: The gas cylinder baskets and pallets are designed to ensure safety even in sensitive environments. They are made of hot-dip galvanized steel for optimal resistance to corrosion and flames in order to minimize the risk of accidents related to gas cylinders. Furthermore, their structure allows for optimal natural air flow.
  5. Compliance with current regulations: Sall cylinder baskets and pallets are designed and built to comply with current safety standards and regulations. For non-EU countries or for specific regulations of certain regions, custom cylinder pallets are also made to comply with specific local laws.

Regulations and Guidelines for the Use of Cylinder Pallets: Everything You Need to Know

Do you need to use cylinder pallets in your business? It is important to be aware of the regulations and guidelines needed to ensure safe and compliant use. Below are the key regulations and guidelines you should be aware of to ensure you are using cylinder pallets correctly and compliantly:

  1. Safety regulations: Safety regulations, such as the Ministerial Decree of 11 April 2011 and technical standards for example, establish specific technical requirements for the design, installation and use of cylinder pallets. These regulations are essential to ensure worker safety and prevent accidents during lifting, transport and storage of cylinders.
  2. INAIL guidelines: INAIL (National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work) has issued guidelines that provide specific information for the correct use of cylinder pallets. These guidelines cover various aspects, such as the correct fastening of cylinders on pallets, correct positioning during transport and safe handling.
  3. Fire regulations: Fire safety regulations apply because gas cylinders can cause explosions and fires and therefore may require specific precautions for correct storage. For example, it may be necessary to maintain certain distances between incompatible cylinders (such as empty and full cylinders or cylinders containing combustibles that must not be moved or stored together with combustion gas cylinders), the use of fire-retardant materials or the installation of appropriate ventilation systems if stored indoors or in storage containers.
  4. Education and training: In addition to specific regulations, it is essential to provide adequate training to workers who use cylinder pallets. Comprehensive training on the correct handling, transportation, securing and storage of gas cylinders can significantly help reduce the risk of accidents in the workplace.

European Legislation:

  1. EN Standard: The EN standards (harmonised European standards) set out the technical requirements for pallets and cylinder baskets. For example, EN 12195-1 covers load securing equipment, which may include pallets, while EN 13155 covers lifting accessories, including cylinder baskets.
  2. Directive 2006/42/EC: Directive 2006/42/EC concerns the safety of machinery. This directive establishes the essential safety requirements for lifting equipment, including pallets and cylinder baskets, which must comply in order to be placed on the European Union market.
  3. Regulation (EC) no. 765/2008: Regulation (EC) No 765/2008 establishes accreditation and market surveillance requirements for the marketing of products in the EU. Under this regulation, pallets and cylinder baskets must comply with harmonised standards to ensure compliance with safety requirements.

Please note that this list is not exhaustive and that there may be other laws, regulations and directives that apply specifically to pallets and gas cylinder baskets in Italy, Europe and non-EU countries.

Please note that regulations and guidelines may vary depending on the country or region in which you operate. It is important to consult your country's specific laws and regulations and obtain up-to-date information from the relevant authorities or qualified professionals in the field to ensure legal compliance and safety in the use of cylinder pallets.

Sall offers a free technical consultancy service, explain your needs and our technicians will contact you with all the information you need.

Conclusion: Complying with the regulations and applying the applicable guidelines is essential to ensure the safe use of cylinder pallets. Knowing the safety regulations, following INAIL guidelines and taking appropriate fire precautions will help ensure worker protection and reduce risks. Ensure you provide appropriate training and instruction. Sall offers free training on the safe use of Sall cylinder pallets and compressed gas cylinder storage.
